About Jim Germer, CPA
Jim Germer is a certified public accountant, financial advisor, published author, and AI researcher based in Bradenton, Florida. For more than three decades, he has advised clients on accounting, taxation, financial planning, and wealth management. He is also the founder of DigitalHumanism.ai and ThinkingSovereignty.ai, where he researches artificial intelligence, AI governance, human agency, and responsible technology.
CPA and Financial Advisory Practice
Germer continues to operate his CPA and financial advisory practice. His experience in taxation, financial analysis, and forensic review also informs his work on artificial intelligence.
Artificial Intelligence Research and AI Governance
Germer studies how AI affects human cognition, judgment, learning, responsibility, and accountability. His research examines how AI systems construct trust, the risks of self-certification, and the difference between genuine verification and outputs that merely appear authoritative. He approaches AI as an auditor would: testing claims through independent scrutiny and asking whether they are provable, not simply plausible.
Digital Humanism and Thinking Sovereignty
Through The Human Choice Company LLC, Germer created DigitalHumanism.ai and ThinkingSovereignty.ai. Digital Humanism focuses on AI’s effects on cognition, education, development, and human agency. Thinking Sovereignty focuses on AI governance, accountability, verification, and institutional responsibility.
Original AI Frameworks
Germer has developed frameworks including Smooths and Jags, Metabolic Atrophy, the Formation Window, Children and Capacity, AI and Education, and AI Governance. His work explores the difference between using AI after human capacities have formed and allowing AI to replace the struggle through which those capacities develop.
Published Author and Professional Background
Germer’s work on artificial intelligence, accounting, finance, and technology has appeared in Accounting Today, TEACH Magazine, McGraw-Hill, Management Review, and The Bradenton Herald. He is a Florida State University graduate and a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Two Connected Fields
Today, Germer works in two connected disciplines: helping clients navigate financial decisions as a practicing CPA and advisor, and investigating how artificial intelligence is reshaping cognition, judgment, verification, responsibility, and human agency.
Note: Germer's AI authorship & the Human Choice Company, LLC are separate from his work as a financial advisor at Cetera Financial Specialists, LLC.
